Terms and Conditions

Missed Appointments: We have the right to charge for missed appointments not cancelled within a reasonable amount of time.  If you no show for 3 consecutive appointments, we have the right to dismiss you from our practice for non-compliance.  We only ask that you give us a courtesy call if you cannot keep your appointment.

Transferring to Another Practice: If you transfer all of your records to another primary care practice without our prior apporoval, you will no longer be considered
our patient.

Termination policy:
WNC Internal Medicine, PLLC seeks to provide quality health services and to utilize resources wisely in order to provide the best possible care to all patients.
Patients may be discharged from the practice immediately if they are deemed abusive or threatening. At the discreation of the provider, patients who demonstrate antagonistic conduct, misuse of services, non-compliance with the agreed-upon treatment plan, failure to meet financial obligations, failure to keep scheduled appointments, inappropriate use of controlled substances, or other patterns of behavior that represent a lack of respect or responsibility on the part of the patient may also be discharged from the practice

Medical Records: To protect you, we must have your written consent to release some or all of your medical records to another physician, medical facility or insurance company.  Please allow 24 hours for records to be copied.

After-Hour Emergencies: Call 911 or go directly to your nearest emergency room.  If your condition is urgent but not life threatening, please call 828-586-7000 for the doctor on call.

Narcotics and Controlled Substances: Our office has a very strict policy regarding narcotics and controlled substances.  This policy is posted in our waiting area and all exam rooms.  Prescriptions for these medications will be written only after appropriate testing has been obtained to confirm the need.  We will make referrals to pain clinics if the doctor chooses to do so.  WNC Internal Medicine is not a pain clinic and will not treat chronic pain conditions.  Patients who abuse our policy regarding narcotics and controlled substances will be dismissed. All patients receiving any narcotics or controlled substances will be subject to random drug screening.  We reserve the right to accept or deny any patient based upon patient medical history and/or medications.

For all Narcotics and Controlled substance prescription written, to get a refill please call the office within 48 hours before the Prescription is due to request your prescription. It can be picked up at the office on Fridays only. Our hours are Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.

Insurance: We are participating providers with most insurance plans.  We file all insurance as a courtesy.  It is your responsibility to notify us of any changes in your insurace coverage prior to your visit.  If you are insured by one of the companies we participate with please be prepared to pay your copays and deductible at the time of your visit.  This arrangement is part of your contract with your insurance company.
Collections:  If after 3 monthly billing statements there has been no payment made on your account, a Collection Letter will be sent informing you that we need payment.  IF there is no response to the collection Letter, a second letter will be sent informing you that your account has been turned over to a Collection Agency.  If your account is transferred to a collection agency due to non payment, you will be charged your past due amount plus 25 % of  the total for collection fee.

We do not file auto accident claims with your medical health insurance. You are responsible for filing auto accident claims. The cost of the office visit  will be due at the time of your appointment.

If you are a Workers Comp patient you will need to contact the office before scheduling the appointment, you will need to have your claim number, contact information  and a telephone number of your case worker.  We are a participating provider for only a few workers comp plans.
